Two self-adhesive directional indicators are supplied with each sign. Plastic outlines are provided to the left of the letter E and to the right of the letter T for easy alignment. If your EXIT sign is to be located other than directly
over an exit, apply a directional indicator to the left of the E, pointing left, or to the right of the T, pointing right, or both, as appropriate.
All BPL photoluminescent products have been manufactured utilizing newly improved phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) pigments, which are based on Strontium Oxide Aluminate Chemistry. They are drastically different from
conventional phosphorescent pigments, which are either based on Zinc Sulfide or on radioisotopes for their self-luminous properties. The initial afterglow brightness of Strontium Oxide Aluminate products is up to ten times that of conventional phosphorescent pigments. BPL Strontium Oxide Aluminate products lasts upwards of 30 hours, the time span for afterglow brightness to diminish to .32 mcd/m2 (100 times the human eye perception limit).
Prior to installation it must be determined that there is a minimum of 5 foot candles of fluorescent, metal halide, LED or mercury vapor light on the face(s) of the sign at all times during building occupancy. According to the EPA,
the average foot candles found in an office space is 50 foot candles.
Initial charging time is 60 minutes.
